NES disowns ANYA
ITANAGAR, Oct 24: The Nyishi Elite Society (NES) in its executive meeting held at Naharlagun on Wednesday last disowned and disassociated itself from All Nyishi Youth Association (ANYA).
The house also decided to constitute its own youth wing of NES, the Society said in a press statement.
Citing various reasons in favour of its decision, the NES in a notification said that ANYA betrayed NES and miserably failed to function as the vibrant youth wing of the Nyishi Elite Society as given under the provisions of Article (34) of the constitution of ANYA.
Pigs impounded in Roing
ROING, Oct 24: With a view to "keep the Roing Township clean and to prevent stray animals from roaming freely in the area", the Lower Dibang Valley District Administration has started impounding stray animals.
A team of officials headed by Town Magistrate, Sanjay Taram, DPO M Dirchi, DUDA UPO Tao Tadap and Bazar Secretary Rajkumar Linggi took possession of four Pigs from the market area early today morning.
Later, the animals caught were disposed off through an auction conducted by a team of officers headed by CO Kamin Darang. The amounts so realized were deposited to the state govt account through treasury challan, informed an official release.
Earlier, a 15 days notification was issued in this regard by Lower Subansiri DC urging the public to regulate their domestic animals.

NMMU camps at Pachi and Hamba Pinda
SEPPA, Oct 23: National Mobile Medical Unit (NMMU) camps cum awareness on Ante Natal Care, immunizations and health and hygiene were conducted by PHC Pakoti under the District Health Society at Pachi covering the five villages of Fachung, Attarangsinghi, 14 Mile camp, Mangkhya and Pachi camp on Oct 20th and at Hamba Pinda on Oct 23rd in collaboration with Hamba Pinda Welfare Society.
A total of 235 patients, out of which 70 children and three pregnant women, benefitted from the camps and Rashtra Bal Swasth Karikaram (RBSK) team screened the school children.
PHC Pakoti MO incharge, Dr. Kapu Sopin stressed on health and hygiene, importance of hand wash, ANC, immunizations and discouraged open defecation.
MO, Dr. Tagyang Tage briefed on RBSK and its benefit for school going children and on early detection of any congenital or chronic disability diseases which can be corrected or support for the child.

ITANAGAR, Oct 24: The members of All Papum Poma Students' Union (APPSU) conducted a social service cum tree plantation programme under Swachh Bharat Abhiyan at Govt Middle School campus, Hollongi today. Apart from APPSU executive members, school students and teaching staff joined the cleanliness drive and planted around 50 tree saplings in the school compound during the social service. The Union also donated two dustbins for school and one dustbin to install near Hollongi Police check gate.
Stating that the school does not have a single teachers' barrack, the Union also appealed to the concern authorities to construct teacher's barrack immediately in the school compound.
Moyong grieves Pasighat fire

PASIGHAT, Oct 24: Pasighat East MLA, Kaling Moyong, who is presently at New Delhi, has expressed grief over the devastating recent fire at Pasighat, which burnt down three houses at Transport Colony (Sawmill area).

Home Minister assures ATA to arrest attacker of DDSE
Orgs condemn physical assault
ITANAGAR, Oct 24: Home Minister Tanga Byaling assured Arunachal Teachers' Association (ATA) that the attacker of the DDSE would be apprehended soon and necessary instruction has already been given to the Capital SP to act.
The Home Minister gave this assurance when a team of ATA met him at his official residence today to seek his personal intervention in the case and instruct Itanagar Police to arrest the alleged attacker within 24 hours and, punish him under appropriate sections of the law.
ATA informed the Home Minister that Marken Kadu, DDSE, Directorate of Secondary Education, Itanagar, was physically assaulted on October 23 allegedly by one Tabu Guha inflicting grievous injuries to his head and face.
ATA also informed the Minister that an FIR was lodged by the victim against the culprit at Itanagar Police Station immediately after the incident but no arrest has been made by the Police till today.
Such unprovoked attack on govt. official on duty is shocking, highly condemnable and a smack on the face of the state government, ATA said. It threatened to launch democratic movement if the culprit is not arrested within the given time period.
Meanwhile, various organizations have vehemently condemned the physical assault on the DDSE.
"Teachers are the most highly respected person in the society and they are the nation builder. The incident of attack on teacher is not acceptable and deserves condemnation from all," said AAPSU.
AAPSU demanded the law enforcing agency to nab the culprit(s) at the earliest and give them exemplary punishment as per law. It also appealed to the society to refrain from protecting such criminals.
Chairman of AAPSU constituted Core Committee on refugee issue Gumjum Haider also strongly condemned the incident.
Arunachal Pradesh Congress Seva Dal (APCSD) termed the violence as against the INC's Gandhian principles and urged all to solve their dispute amicably.
Law is above all and everyone should abide by it, said APCSD chief organizer Kipa Kaha.
The Central Eastern Youth Association of Arunachal (CEYAA) also vehemently condemned the dastardly act and urged the law enforcing agency to immediately arrest the culprit and award exemplary punishment. Repeated attacks on officials of various departments in Capital Complex have put a serious question mark on the law and order situation in the Capital Complex, CEYAA said.
Expressing shock at the incident, the Galo Students' Union (GSU) also sought Capital Complex SP's intervention into the matter and appealed him to take stringent action against the culprit. It also demanded immediate arrest of the accused to deter similar incidents in future.
The Nyoi Ao Welfare Society (NAWS) has also condemned the incident.
Such physical attack on senior and elderly person that too in office duty is shocking and highly condemnable, it said in a release referring to the victim as an honest, sincere and a person with strict administrative values.
The society demanded the Capital administration to immediately book the culprit/s responsible for the attack and said that if the government fails to deliver justice it will open floodgate for other criminals to emulate.
The society expressed disappointment that Itanagar police station delayed registering the case for four hours after filing of FIR which gave ample time to the accused to escape.
Dozens assaulted in Chapakhowa

ROING, Oct 24: Thirty members of Meka Baptist Church including 14 girls were physically assaulted by locals at Gumti Bill Tinali near Chapakhowa, Assam today.
The group was returning to Roing after attending a church Conference at Namsai.
According to Youth Director of the Church, K. Yao, dozens of people stopped the State Transport which the Church team had reserved from Tinsukia to Roing, started physically assaulting them randomly.
"They took away our mobile phones, purses and wallets and other belongings, broke our musical instruments and assaulted us. The girls were pulled out of the bus and assaulted too. They only relented after repeated pleas to let go of the girls", said Yao.
Yao also informed that the assault stopped after the arrival and intervention of the Assam Rifles.

"We have now sent the victims to the hospital for treatment, and FIR will be lodged at the Police Station under Sadiya", he said. Condemning the incident, President DASU Tom Gamno said, "We want immediate action and recovery of the snatched property. Minor girls have been assaulted in broad daylight, we want answer to that. We hope that the administration will give us justice".
Gamno also said that if no action is taken in the next 24 hours, the student body will be compelled to launch a democratic movement against the whole incident.

ANYA suspends democratic movement temporarily

ITANAGAR, Oct 24: All Nyishi Youth Association (ANYA) has announced temporarily suspension of its democratic movement. Briefing media persons at Press Club here today, ANYA President Biri Kakum informed that ANYA has deferred its proposed 24 hours Capital bandh till November 9 adding that further decisions would be announced soon.
ANYA President said that unavoidable circumstance has forced it to suspend the bandh for the time being, without elaborating on it much. Kakum denied that suspension was an outcome of political and external pressures.
The decision to suspend was taken while respecting the view of people belonging to Nyishi community in particular and state as whole, he said.
Referring to Nyishi Elite Society's notification dissociating and disowning ANYA, its spokesperson Khoda Ajin said that with this, ANYA would be able to function independently for the welfare of community. NES had issued a notification to ANYA wherein it dissociated ANYA and also stated that it would soon form its own youth wing. Reacting on the NES's notification, ANYA Spokesperson further added that NES should not create its youth wing with the same nomenclature as ANYA saying that it would create confusion in the society.

Environmental Conservation Plan for Kley River
ITANAGAR, Oct 24: Chief Secretary Ramesh Negi has directed the Department of Urban Development to prepare an Environmental Conservation Plan (ECP) for Kley River situated in Ziro plateau.
The Chief Secretary gave this directions after a delegation of Apatani Youth Association led by its President Taku Chatung called on him to discuss Mission Clean Kley river. The AYA delegates briefed the programmes and activities to be taken up to create awareness on environment pollution of Kley river and its tributaries.
The ECP has a broad framework to focus on the sewerage disposal/treatment, solid waste management/disposal and preservation and rejuvenation of the Kley River and its tributaries. The CS also directed for appointing of an experienced consultant by proper Expression of Interest to be invited within next one month. The ECP comes at the backdrop of Ziro being chosen as one of the World Heritage sites for its traditional culture and landscape.
Appreciating the efforts taken up by AYA, the Chief Secretary advised them to keep Ziro clean and, to preserve and protect the environment as the Ziro valley has been put under tentative list of World Heritage site for its unique and harmonious relationship between nature and human beings.
